According to recent analysis of the job market in Canada, software engineering is the most in-demand profession. Companies and recruiters mainly in Alberta, British Columbia and Ontario are open to hire highly skilled software engineers from abroad.

When it comes to hiring foreign employees in Canada, the employers will priorities the software engineers because a wide range of industries depend on them to drive the business.  According to “Bureau of Labor Statistics Employment”  this specific profession will grow to 21% in the coming years. 

As our world today is moving close towards digital economy and the tech sector in Canada is booming, the hiring process of a software engineer has become easier. With the Express Entry program and the Tech Pilot program, people with software engineering skills or any other tech skills can rapidly immigrate to any of the Provinces in this country and become a permanent resident there.

Below are the reasons why this software engineering is the most sough-after profession in Canada:

  • Developing internal systems: regardless of the field, companies’ structures nowadays are becoming more complex, leading them to enhance their internal operating system, to do so they hire skilled software engineers. This will help the companies develop their internal IT system, by improving websites, building apps and programs, making the workflow systematic, simple and organized.
  • The emerging digital economy: new technologies such as AI, Blockchain and 3D printing will continue to develop, the need for workers in this occupation will increase. New types of companies in the tech sector will grow (cloud computing, virtual reality, cyber security, telecommunication…) creating more job opportunities for software engineers.  
  • Improving Customer satisfaction: with the corporate world becoming complex day by day, organizations have more pressure to deliver effective results to their customers, therefore they must hire software professionals. These skilled IT employees, with their growing knowledge of codes and programing, will be able to improve the realization of projects in a more efficient manner. Software engineer can also support customers by solving their IT issues via troubleshooting. 
  • Beat the competition: to stay ahead of competition, the organizations nowadays have to adapt to new IT trends and upgrade their IT infrastructure, to do so, they must hire software engineers, who will come up with innovative ways to simplify and improve certain activities in order to increase productivity.
  • Remote work: the concept of working remotely has widely increased, which means organizations must develop their office-specific softwares. To keep the business running, software engineer are being hired to develop tools and help companies take part in digital transformation and collaboration of the business activities.

Coding and programming are standard and universal languages, that make it simpler for people with these skills and knowledge, to enter the Canadian labour market. It is predicted that in the comings years, the number of recruiters will be substantially higher than the number of job seekers for this specific profession, that is why the Canadian Immigration laws have made the hiring process of tech workers abroad much easier than it ever was.
